Penn Cambria GESA - 2025

Project Size: $2.1M

Scope: Packaged RTUs, air handlers, unit ventilators, split systems, duct, plumbing systems

Challenges: Fast-paced summer project, equipment shift in lead times, however we coordinated and ordered early enough to avoid major project delays.

“Our team served as the mechanical contractor for this $2M GESA project, delivering critical mechanical and plumbing systems under a fast-paced schedule. Despite challenges, we worked closely with the project team to keep construction on track and ensure system readiness for school year. Through proactive planning, vendor coordination, field adaptability, the project was completed successfully providing the school with efficient and reliable mechanical systems designed to support comfort and long-term performance.”

IUP Steam

Size: $1.1M

Scope: Installed 500’ of new steam lines, condensate, and temporary

Challenges: Install temporary steam system supplying 80% of campus during demo of tunnel. Prefabrication huge. Tie-ins made during off-hours, never interrupted university operations

“We served as the prime contractor for this $1.1M steam tunnel pipe replacement project. Our pipe and sheet metal fabrication shops worked in tandem with our onsite team to not only save project cost, but ensure the project schedule would be met. We installed a temporary steam system that supplied 80% of the university during tunnel demolition. Tie-ins for the new system were made off-hours. University operations were never interrupted.”

State College School

Size:$2.6M

Scope: Ten-week aggressive schedule to replace steam system with hot water system. Major equipment released six months early. Adjusted schedule to accommodate summer camps. Precon team caught equipment errors before project started preventing delays. School fully operational on the first day of classes, with no safety incidents. 3D coordination team worked w/ fab shops 2 months before fabrication began.

“One of the most aggressive schedules we have ever been on to replace the schools steam system with hot water. Major equipment was released six months early. We adjusted our already fast-paced schedule to accommodate summer camps. Our preconstruction team caught equipment errors before the project started, preventing project delays. Our 3D coordination team worked closely with our fabrication shops two months before fabrication began. School was fully operation on the first day of classes with no safety incidents.”

Arxada Steam tank

“A very old condensate tank and piping system was costing our industrial client a lot of money due to repairs, leaks, and system failures. The installation needed to be completed in 3 days, so multiple shifts were required to work 24 hours per day. The plant increase capacity with the new tank, with a savings of 20K gallons of water a day. The project schedule was beat by 20 hours with no safety incidents.”

VAMC PACTS

Size: $1.3M

Scope: HVAC install for hospital expansion/renovation

Challenges: Schedule changes, working in hospital

“Working in a hospital always presents challenges such as maintaining the facilities operations, patient and staff safety, and scheduling to name a few. Our team successfully installed all the HVAC equipment, duct and piping for this renovation and expansion project. Our team planned and pivoted from changes in schedule to provide a quality project for the new addition.”

Delgrossos New Building

Project Size:

Scope:

Challenges:

Graymont

Project size: $20K

Scope: Installed exhaust fan and duct for compressor

Challenges: Massive internal heat gain from air compressor. We installed exhaust to help get heat out of building

“Our industrial customer was dealing with massive internal heat gain from an air compressor. They called us to fabricate and install ductwork, along with a roof exhaust fan to extract out the heat. Since we fabricate our own ductwork, we were easily able to plan and coordinate all aspects of the project to deliver a system that would provide a more comfortable working environment for the plant.”

PSU UP Substation

Size:

Scope: Install 4 ductless mini-splits to service campus substation. Worked as prime contractor, managing mechanical, plumbing, electrical, roof work. Systems need to overcome massive internal heat gain.

“Multiple ductless mini-splits were installed to service the campus substation which was dealing with massive internal heat gain. We were the prime contractor managing the mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and roof work.”

SCI Muncy

Scope: Decentralize building from main steam plant. Installed 27 boilers in 13 buildings during peak heating system. Temporary connections fed buildings. Over 7,000’ of pipe.

Challenge: Project size and duration – split into three crews to keep project flowing smoothly, along with utilizing pipe fabrication shop.

Tight spaces – some boilers changed to knock-down boilers, and required to be assembled in-place.

“Project logistics, tight spaces, and many trade contractors were a few challenges that needed overcome on this large steam project. We decentralized multiple buildings from
the main steam plant, and installed 27 new boilers in 13 buildings during peak heating season. Temporary connections fed the buildings while over 7,000’ of pipe was installed. We split up into three crews to keep the project flowing smoothly, while utilizing our pipe fabrication shop.”

PSU Altoona Maple Hall

Project Size: $1.5M

Scope: Replace all HVAC and plumbing systems for student dorm

Challenges: Fast-paced summer project, strict deadlines

“The fast-paced nature of this project demanded precise coordination, proactive problem-solving, and innovating scheduling solutions. The project owner had a deadline to ensure students could move in for the Fall semester. Thanks to the dedication of our strong team and quality work, we delivered a fully completed project that was on time and within budget.”

Avery R900

Project Size: $2.2M

Scope: Process Piping & HVAC for new production building

Challenge: Large project, many trades working at same time, pressure to get finished

“Our industrial client had a large expansion project that required many trades working in the same part of the plant at the same time. We installed all the new process piping and HVAC for the new production building. We were the prime for our scope of work, and helped lead the effort in schedule and coordination. To meet the project schedule we heavily utilized our pipe fabrication shop for spools, pump skids, and supports.”
